Running Masterclass: Rate of Perceived Exertion (RPE)

Runner - athlete

In each of the Active8me Run programs we aim to make life as simple as possible, yet supply you with a program that suits your current level of fitness and ability. This personalisation happens through a system called Rate of Perceived Exertion (RPE). By using the scale described in the video, you can tailor the program to EXACTLY how YOU feel within that scale.

This method is utilized across the fitness world for amateurs to professionals, allowing coaches to measure both starting points and progress in a program. It is important you follow the guides of RPE in your program to ensure that you’re getting the right amount AND types of running workouts. This will lead to gradual gains in speed, endurance and strength as well as minimising risk of injury.

In this video we cover:

  • The scale of RPE
  • Nailing your effort levels
